ICSS2010 2nd INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON SUSTAINABILITY SCIENCE / 23 - 25 June. Rome, Italy
VISION
We have a vision of a world where individuals can make the most of their potential, where poverty no longer exists, where nature is respected. This vision is a goal we strive for day after day in our work as researchers, scientists, activists, policymakers and managers.

Sustainability Science works on shaping the rigorous scientific backbone of this vision. It needs the creation of a network of scholars, researchers and experts from research centres and universities around the world and their connection in a close partnership with leading representatives from civil society, the business community and policymaking institutions.

Closing the gap between our vision and reality is not easy - but it should not be dismissed a mere utopia either. The potential to achieve a more sustainable world exists - it's up to us to make the most of it. Advancements in science and technology, knowledge, awareness and commitment can make a huge difference in achieving local and global sustainability.

ICSS2010 is a turning point for the consolidation of Sustainability Science. During the three days in Rome, experts and scholars invited from the leading universities and research centres will discuss the crucial elements of Sustainability Science through focused and output-oriented sessions. The last day, at the "Open panel with the stakeholders", representatives from civil society, the industry sector and policymaking institutions will be starring.
